Mandate

The purpose of the WKARC is to promote and assist in the use of amateur radio communications.

We meet Saturday mornings at 10am in the Cottonwood A&W across from the Ford dealer.

The BVARC Net meets every Monday night, at 20:00 local time, on frequency 146.840 -

The WKARC presents...

Located in Nelson, BC, Canada, the West Kootenay Amateur Radio Club has been serving the local Ham Radio community for over 50 years.

At present, there are three repeaters in operation.

Located on Slocan Ridge, VE7RCT 146.640 (-),

at Crawford Bay, VE7BTU 147.060 (-)

and in Nelson, VE7BDY 147.040 (+)

If you are interested in becoming licensed to operate an amateur radio, you'll need to take a test with either Lorne Goodwin (VE7 ADZ) in Nelson or VE7 YN aka Rudi Martini, our other accredited examiner in Castlegar. It's best to study for it first. You can start by learning from the free online course offered by Emergency Radio.

Radio Amateurs of Canada have a wide variety of study aids available for free or not.

Our Annual Club Dinner will be in the back of KC's Restaurant in Nelson on Friday, December 7th at 6pm. A $20 banquet, a $5 gift exchange, door prizes and radios will be offered. Contact Wanda Woikin for details.
